For a long time, Ike stood silent in thought, struggling to process all that he'd been told. It didn't make any sense, none of it did, but maybe, maybe Soren could shed some light on it. "W-what would happen if the power inside the Medallion were to be released?
The lights dimmed as a bright glow eerily illuminated the young tactician's face. All sound ceased and it was as though the earth herself was holding her breath. Titanin stood statue still, Boyed swayed slightly, Oscar was squinting and Haar was sleeping in the corner, but no one was as stony faced as Ike.
Soren looked up, eyes shaded and mysterious, skin a deathly white standing in stark contrast to his dark hair and pointy ear-huh, pointy ears?
"Annihilation Ike, complete and total annihilation."
Boyde. "Does that mean we aren't going to get chicken on Sunday?"
"We're going to starve!" Boyde cried, plopping on the nearest boulder.
Oscar paced the parameter of the cave where they were trapped, running his hands along the wall in search of cracks
well, that or he couldn't see
Ike stood over Mist as she cried and Harr slept in a corner.
Soren starred at the hole they'd fallen through, calculating the exact distance. "I believe you are correct, Boyde. The roof is far beyond what height we could reach and our rations will barely last a day. Mist, will most likely be the first to go based on weight and body fat ratio. Followed by me, Ike, Oscar. Boyde and Harr."
"Hey, why is he last?" Boyde asked, climbing to his feet.
"Less energy consumption." Soren replied. "But of course, these are all rough estimates." He turned in the direction of the snoring. "Harr, I will need to see what food we have left."
"How useful." Soren deadpanned.
"Soren, I appreciate the effort, but I don't think we need to know the exact moment we're going to drop dead." Ike explained as gently as possible.
Soren huffed and went to find a corner to stare at.
Boyde, learning that Harr had the food, scurried over and started digging. Finding something at last, he shuffled over to the beam of light.
"No! We're not going to starve!" He held the object up Lion King style. "We have, zucchini!"
Soren actually rolled his eyes. "And where do you plan on planting it?"
Boyde looked around, his boots clomping on the solid stone. "
W-We're gonna starve!!!" He screamed, bursting into tears.
Oscar, sensing that the situation was quickly falling apart, stepped forward and pulled something from his pack. "Uh, all I have are these shiny round discs." He held up the CD. "I don't know what they are, but we might be able to eat them
Mist and Boyde looked up, a sparkle of hope glowing in their young, innocent eyes.
Soren scurried over and inspected the odd device. "Hmmm, no, no, no, no, no
Oscar starred at him with a blank expression. "You mean I can't even eat them?"
"No, no, no, no, no, no. No."
Boyde pointed at Soren. "We could just eat him."
Ike did not like hot things, camp fires, coffee, fresh pastries, Elincia (different kind of hot, but still). Anything above room temperature terrified him. Perhaps it was the incident where Mist accidentally set his hair on fire, or maybe when Soren got a little excited with the fire magic and toasted his buns (as in hamburger!), whatever the reason, heat+Ike
"We gotta get out of here!" Ike blurted, eyeing the pools of lave in horror.
The laguz alliance was making slow progress through the cave, hindered by injuries and the precarious footing.
"Yeah, working on that." Ranulf fired back helping a wounded soldier along.
Ike bit his fingernails, wondering why the heck he agreed to take up the rear with his mercenaries.
Boyde stood in a pool of his own sweat, along with everyone else, well, except for Soren that is who seemed strangely unaffected.
The thunder of hooves rung behind them and Ike turned to see Titania galloping toward them.
"We're got problems, the fools are following us!" She told them, raising her axe and turning her horse.
Ike drew his sword along with the rest of the mercenaries. "Ranulf, get everyone out! We'll take care of these guys!"
Ranulf nodded and moved off.
Ike eyed the approaching soldiers warily, they were outnumbered with nowhere to go.
"Soren! I need a battle plan!"
Realizing that the little mage was not in his usual place, Ike looked around and found him standing by the rock's edge, staring at the lava.
Soren's shoulders shook as a small, manic giggle escaped his lips. Suddenly, he spun, beady eyes locking on to Ike.
"Death, death, death take us all! Hahahahahahah!" Soren screamed, throwing his arms in the air and sprinting across the platform.
Ike watched in horror as the little mage ran Denathor style off the edge and went up in a pop of heat and flame.
Boyde managed to pull his jaw from the floor. "Was that supposed to happen?"
Ike shook his head then screamed to the ceiling. "Reset!"
Is There more? Could there be more? Wait and see!
